    Setting up auto-dl

This morning I tried setting up autodl-irssi on my Feral seedbox for use with PTM. They have they're own (kind of old/outdated) guide on their wiki, so I started using that. And after some trial and error I had it set up to at least be able to read the IRC chat. Then I set it up to test it could see by setting it to download every torrent that get released (but set the in-client priority to "Don't DL" so it wouldn't fuck up the ratio obviously) and that worked fine. I came back 10 mins later with about 10 torrents that were 0% downloaded, so I assumed it was fine.

I then went in and set it up to automatically download a couple tv shows that were on tonight. I came back to the 3 .torrents downloaded, but they didn't download any data (this was a new filter so I did not set "Don't DL") the .torrent didnt even show up in the client.

Here and here, because I've believed to be either this is the root of my problem, or its my messing up the names in the filters, but I don't believe that to be the case.

Any help or an article that would lead me in the right direction would be great (I've tried almost everything I could find on Google, which has been slim pickens).

@xm15blade, not sure if i understood your problem. Your bot connects to the IRC channel, gets the announces, your filter picks up the torrents but they load in a "do not download" state?

Try this. Open the "Add Torrent" dialog. Uncheck the "Don't start the download automatically" and close the dialog with the "X"

OR on your filter under the "Action" tab don't use the .torrent action "Use global settings" but rather choose rtorrent (if that's the client of your choice)

Ok so I'm wondering if maybe I have my filters set up incorrectly then.

When it comes to setting a filter, and I want to set a filter for 720p downloads of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, and Limitless to try and race the upload, which tab is this going in? P2P, or TV/Movies? And how does ruTorrent match the names if I put in different shows? I think I had it set to something like *Limitless*,*Brooklyn Nine-Nine*,*New Girl* in the TV/movies tab, with 720p selected as the quality.

My seedbox setup doesn't have the P2P tab at all. I just put my shows in TV/Movies. I use *New*Girl* so that I catch a release like New.Girl....etc.
Try it and let me know if you still have problems

This is what I have set up right now. I had read an article the other day about the filters and what the * and # in searches means, but now I can't find it. Like I said I don't think I get what the * does. I thought it was just supposed to enclose the name of the title you were searching for?

Well it should work, but you are saying they aren't so something is wrong.
So try leaving the source field empty and just use 720p on Resolutions.
So the '*' is a wildcard and means match anything, so in your case *Modern.Family* will catch eg.
    Modern.Family.S07E08.1080p.HDTV.x264-MORiTZ
    Modern.Family.S07E09.White.Christmas.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-Oosh
    but will not catch
    Modern Family.S07E09.White.Christmas.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-Oosh
    that's why i suggested *Modern*Family*

Gotcha. Sounds perfect we'll see if this works in a couple hours or so. For adding a filter for multiple shows, should it be formatted as

    *Modern*Family*, *American*Horror*Story*

    Or

    *Modern*Family*,*American*Horror*Story*

I use it without space after the comma and it definitely works so try it like that

    You can try this

    example
    Match releases: Elementary*,American?Horror?Story*,Modern?Family*, New?Girl*
