Not a child of the 80s, but definitely the 80s/90s. You can't pinpoint that though. Depends what you grew up with. To me, the best music is yet to be made. We do, however, seem to be stuck in a downward spiral at the moment, especially when it comes to pop music.

Despite I adore the 90', undoubtedly the 70s with rock are the best decade for music.

The 80s, it was about the producers and the one hit wonders, just loved that decade. 90s was okay, started getting to much indie, alternative, and grunge for my liking.

I'd say the 70s come second with heaps of west coast rock, disco, and euro pop.

With the understanding that the age range of this thread is likely skewed on the younger side. Let me support my vote for the 70's

    Black Sabbath
    Curtis Mayfield
    Led Zeppelin
    Neil Young
    Sly & The Family Stone
    Van Morrison
    Bob Marley & The Wailers
    David Bowie
    Rod Stewart
    Al Green
    The Allman Brothers Band
    New York Dolls
    Big Star
    Deep Purple
    Pink Floyd
    Bruce Springsteen
    Parliament
    Graham Parker
    Augustus Pablo
    The Ramones
    Gregory Isaacs
    The Clash
    Elvis Costello
    The Jam
    Culture
    Talking Heads
    Gang of Four
    The Buzzcocks
    Joy Division,
and practically every great Roots Reggae LP.

Not to even mention the bands that spilled over to the 70's: The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan

The 1960's light have a similar list of heavyweights with Rock, Motown, and Stax artists.
