Definately flac. Quality cant get any better than that
Flac. But sometimes the space is a problem.
I always download vbr. Isn't various bit rate the smallest possible size at the best quality? I also remember reading it sounds better at higher frequencies, not sure though so don't quote me on that![]()
320 for something new!
Flac for something good![]()
It all depends on the catalyst.
My opinionated suggestions:
96 for Oldies on any regular system/headphones.
128 for Classic Rock on any regular system/headphones.
192 for Alternative Rock on any regular system/headphones.
260 for Rap/Hip-Hop on any regular system/headphones.
320 for Electronic music on any regular system/headphones.
FLAC all the way for a good mix of bass, hi, low, and overall clarity on HQ audio systems
It takes a good system to distinguish between 260/320 and FLAC rips.
If you are just a casual listener to music, then you can't go wrong with the 192kbps bitrate.
I hope you found me to be helpful, Kirsty.

I prefer 320kbps, but sometimes for some really good and favorite music I'll go with FLAC.
