What player do you use to watch movies through?

You have no idea how many media players I've tried.

From mPlayer, to MPC and all the ones based on them, like smPlayer, KmPlayer, MPC-HC, MPC-BE, and all kinds. Every one of them have their upsides and downsides. After years of testing out different players, I have to say VLC is somehow always on top. It can start playing unfinished files instantly (virtually no buffering) whereas many other either cannot, have a long delay, or crash when you try to seek or fast forward. It also can be used to scrobble on places like trakt.tv which can help you keep track of everything you watch, and which can be plugged into third party tools to generate suggestions based on watch history. You can also plug your netflix and whatever else in. It will keep track of it all for you.

I really wanted something other than VLC, and there are some really decent competitors. And I can't say I'm using VLC as default, but I'll be honest, I'm really starting to think about going back to using it as default, because I pretty much never ever have problems with it.

Honestly through thr many years of using a PC I found Media Player Classic with the K-Lite Codec Mega Pack to be by far the best player for windows. On Android I'd have to say MPlayer Pro is easily the best video player.

I got plex running on my homeserver with my unlimited gdrive mounted via rclone

Kodi on smartTV and VLC on both Mac and PC.

VLC for pretty much exclusively. Never had an issue with it and it plays everything.

PotPlayer, plays everything and find it easy to navigate. Sometimes use VLC or Media Player Classic as well but not as much.

Using VLC mostly, and then I make occasional use of a DLNA server to stream to smart TVs in the house

Plex for everything, bought a lifetime pass some time ago.

Been using VLC for years. Only swore by BS Player before that, but then I discovered Videolan LOL. Hard to beat that.

MPC-HC. Working on setting up madVR so I can convert SDR to HDR on the fly.

MPV is awesome. try it for HDR contents.
