I use K-Lite Codec pack + MadVR, a very good combo to me especially for H265 1080p movie.

On my computer and tablet I mostly use VLC,
previously on PC I was using Media Player Classic Homme-Cinema with K-Lite codecs, it worked pretty well, but I switch to VLC for the easy to use.
On my TV I use Plex and before that the basic integrated media player from my Samsung TV, but Plex is way more usefull and nice to use.
I use VLC, dont have a TV currently since I just moved and threw my old one out
Plex is handling everything for me :-)

I use VLC on my PC and OSMC Kodi on my Raspberry Pi 2B and Pi 3.
VLC, GOM, Plex. Been there done that. Kodi is my heaven now.
I have Intel Nuc i3 with Libreelec Kodi playing through 7.2 Amplifier and a Projector on a 92" Screen :-)

On the TV I use a Minix X8 with Kodi 17
On the PC I use VLC media player.
