Vlc Player with the Klite Codec Pack
I download into my FreeNAS and then stream via PLEX Server into my PS3 Plex client.
I've also run VLC for what seems like forever
Mpc-hc
The same here, MPC-HC is my favorite tool for years now...
VLC ftw :)
WMC, Emby or Kodi depending on the format.
VLC all day, erryday
Ugh, VLC is meh. I use MPC-Black Edition or MPC-HC. The first one is the best IMO.
MPC-HC since I found VLC to be very processor heavy
I never really liked MPC-HC, it usually messes up when playing something. VLC has always been consistent for me, never really saw a need to change.
MPC-HC with smooth video player
Used BSPlayer for a long time, now VLC.
VLC or KMPlayer
im on linux so MPV of course
for windows, mpc
Was using VLC before, now I use plex for almost a years
VLC for Windows and Android, sometimes I use MPC-HC.
cccp k lite codec windows, and mx player or vlc for android
VLC on Mac and iOS, WDTV media player for TV.
VLC FTW! If you need an obscure codec, maybe the problem is the source of your movies!
Kodi for HTPC and VLC for others
MPC-HC for everything, LAV is a very versatile video decoder and AC3-Filter (audio decoder and processor).
Kodi.
Plex. It's awesome and has an app for everything - xbox, ps4, roku, etc etc.....even phones!
VLC is the one and only. Rarely has it not played something.
I have used VLC for years now! Have rarely faced any issues on that.
i prefer MPC-HC - with madVR video renderer - video format: h264/AVC
MPC-HC is the best! Easy, simple and low resource demanding-
At the moment VLC
I'm a plex user.
Luckily for me I have a Sony Android TV so I just put my HD files on a USB flash drive and I use VLC to play them! :joyman:
Friend, the best player is Total Media Theater 6 (TMT6), I highly recommend it's the best player with an incredible video and sound enhancement. Also it reproduces BD50 (Full Bluray) with menu and their respective extras, not to mention it's 3D compatible and has sound amplifier, arguably the best I've ever tried.
The necessary codecs are in the next link, I recommend the standard package for normal use of the pc, since the other packages bring programs to work with videos and audio, such as muxear, encode, convert, etc., therefore they will be heavier and Useless If you don't use those programs. Just to watch movies, it's enough with the standard.

And this is for ac3 formats, it amplifies the ac3 formats, the modera and has it's own equalizer for better sound (although the DTS is better since this format is with loss), this audio format is found in most rips, mostly on mp4.

VLC on Mac, Windows and Linux.
re codecs, seems most above said it best.
never mind
VLC is probably the best software player. I just got the iPhone app and now I can send files wirelessly to my iPhone, even hi res FLAC audio!!
