I've used the free version of Avast! for over a decade and haven't had any issues at all.

Avast
This might be a little contentious, but the best AV is to not use AV at all. Instead install all untrusted software on a VM with no network device which you can restore to a clean baseline snapshot whenever it gets too infected.
The best free VM is VirtualBox (IMHO)
I'm on a Mac so… well. But all my Windows friends just use Security Essentials and Defender.
Avast Free Antivirus + Hardened Mode :top:
I really like Panda Antivirus, he don't have false positive at all since i used it, don't used very much RAM and CPU usage and is pretty good.
Linux: none.
Mac: none.
Windows: keep system up to date or Windows Defender.
:flute:
AVAST fast and easy + Malwarebytes,, scans everything including virus, malware, spyware, adware etc.
Win Defender
Avast, because it's the fastest anti-virus I ever used
Kaspersky is the best but I still recommend to use antimalware software
I've tried a bunch; AVG, Avira and now Bitdefender. In terms of detection I don't see a big difference, for me the choice was more about the GUI, system impact and whether or not the freeware keeps bugging you with pop-ups and upgrade prompts. Bitdefender so far seems clean and simple, no pop-up upgrade offers. Can't go wrong with any of the three above, really!
I use a bunch of AntiVirus programs, herdProtect Anti-Malware Scanner AntiVirus and Emsisoft Emergency Kit (EEK)
herdProtect: mainly because It's a cloud based scan, 60+ scan engine
EEK: well speaks for It's self.
Comodo Internet Security 10. Need i say no more? :elefant:
1st Kaspersky Free,
2nd AVG Free.
AVG should be the one.
Avast Free Antivirus. It's very light on system resources and doesn't slow down your computer.
avast jajajja
ESET!~~:pepsi:
Avast even though I switched to Bit-Defender cos I got it on sale
Kaspersky for years!
Don't know the Russian is looking at me or not, but I know I'm not working for American goverment nor any government so I guess I'm safe! And there is nothing that they need to steal from me ;)
Bit-defender trials are great, out of every anti-virus prog that is by far the best (i use 2015) easy on ram and does similar to all the others
Avast is the best but there is no big diff between free and not free ;)
Avast or Avira
avaste free, panda, kasperkiy
Kaspersky Cloud Edition. It's a free version, has a light memory and usage footprint, has the same detection engine as the paid model and you can opt-out of most of the more egregious privacy caveats. Used AVG, Avast and MSE in the past and I found this software a better experience. As ever with a personal recommendation from an anonymous source, your mileage may vary, don't believe anyone who says otherwise.
Switched from Kaspersky to Bitdefender a few months ago and couldn't be happier to get rid of all those ads and pop-ups
AVG and AVAST
The 360 Total security is really good and its free :b
The one that comes with Windows is good enough. And use your brain too, and you'll be safe.
windows defender is really reliable right now, every system update MS add new exploitation mitigations options for it so it can prevent the exploit from working, folders lock mechanism to prevent ransomware from encrypt your files, lightweight on system and faster than any third party AV, better integration with windows since it's from MS too.
regular update with signatures of latest discovered viruses. windows defender score really high on AV test system https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mic...o365-worldwide
and here the Protection Score is 6.0/6.0 on latest test
https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus...rer/microsoft/
in fact you can see how windows defender evolve across the years from realy shity AV into one with 6/6 score and as capable as Kaspersky and ESET
Bitdefender Total Security to me through personal experience is the best anti virus. I'm a Information Systems Technician for work and have been in IT for 10+ years and Bitdefender is the best by far. Also you can get it for free by simply creating a new email and finding the 3-6 month free trials then registering with your new email.
Folks dont get it twisted. Defender is a whole different product starting from Win 10 PRO. The home version sucks harder then thai girls on soi 6 in Pattaya, Thailand.
AVG free is just okay in windows
Bitdefender Total Security is so good
