'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Easter Eggs Examined
The Lucasfilm storygroup explains the many references hidden in the latest movie.
Fans wondering just how the Resistance knew so much about First Order technology and other such things in Star Wars: The Last Jedi can now rest easy.
The new episode of Lucasfilm’s YouTube series The Star Wars Show features members of the Lucasfilm Story Group explaining the origins of a number of elements in Rian Johnson’s new movie, including the compass prop that ties in with both the Star Wars: Battlefront II game and The Force Awakens, as well as Rogue One’s off-handed reference to the hyperspace tracker that powers one of The Last Jedi’s primary plot lines.
“You can kind of see how we’re developing things concurrently, working on things concurrently, because the list of programs or projects that Jyn goes through in Rogue One wasn’t something that was necessarily in the script, those were things that we started to add later in the production process, and at the same time, we were already working on Rian’s film,” Rayne Roberts explains.
Also discussed: the cut scene from Star Wars: The Force Awakens that set up an important moment in The Last Jedi, the origins of the Porgs, and where the name of Benicio Del Toro’s character came from and why Elvis Costello is somehow connected to him. Watch the discussion below.
