Preacher has extended its stay at AMC.


The basic cable network has renewed the drama based on the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon-created comic series for a fourth season. Production on the 10-episode season will resume early next year in Australia as the Sony Pictures Television drama relocates from its hubs in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and New Orleans. A return date for season four has not yet been determined for the series, which is produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and showrunner Sam Caitlin.


"Preacher is a show unlike any other on television. A passionate base of fans found their way to Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) and have followed along with their adventures, at times indescribable adventures, for three seasons," AMC president of programming David Madden said Thursday in a statement. "We are thankful to our partners at Sony and to Seth, Evan and Sam for everything they have brought to this series, which we are pleased to renew for a fourth season. Like the superfans of Preacher, we can't wait to see where this journey leads next."


Preacher wrapped its third season in August. The delayed renewal comes as Rogen and Goldberg exited their longtime overall deal with Sony TV and are currently in talks for a new pact with Lionsgate TV.


Preacher is part of an AMC scripted lineup that also includes The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Lodge 49, McMafia, The Terror, The Son and the upcoming NOS4A2, due in 2019. Still to be determined are the futures of the dramas Humans and Into the Badlands, with the latter set to resume the second half of its third season in 2019.


Preacher is one of several TV series Rogen and Goldberg have on the air, including Hulu's Future Man, Amazon's The Boys and Showtime's Black Monday.
