Adam McKay's 'Vice' Wins Best Picture at Capri, Hollywood Fest
The film about former Vice President Dick Cheney swept the Italian festival’s awards, winning four prizes in total.
Adam McKay’s film Vice, about Dick Cheney, starring Christian Bale, swept Italy’s Capri, Hollywood film festival awards. It took home four honors in total, including best picture, best supporting actress for Amy Adams, best film editing and best makeup and hairstyling.
The 23rd edition of the festival wrapped on Jan. 2. Alfonso Cuaron was honored with best director for Roma. The film also took home the honor for best foreign language film and best production design for Eugenio Caballero and Barbara Enriquez.
Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born was also a big winner, receiving honors for best sound editing, best sound mixing and best original song for “Shallow.”
"This was an extraordinary year for the quality of the artists who attended, and the variety of works presented at Capri, Hollywood," said festival chairman Lina Wertmuller and founder Pascal Vicedomini.
In other awards, Bjorn Runge’s The Wife won best actress for Glenn Close and best supporting actor for Jonathan Pryce. Marcello Fonte won best actor for Matteo Garrone’s Dogman, after previously taking home the same award in Cannes and the European Film Awards.
Damien Chazelle’s First Man took home awards for best visual effects and best original score. And writing awards went to Green Book for best original screenplay (Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie and Peter Farrelly), and BlacKkKlansman for best adapted screenplay (Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz, Kevin Willlmott and Spike Lee, based on the book by Ron Stallworth).
Other films honored include Ralph Breaks the Internet for best animated feature, Free Solo for best documentary feature, Cold War for best cinematography and Mary Poppins Returns for best costume design.
Capri Institute’s next event, from LA, Italia Film, Fashion & Art Fest, takes place Feb.17-23.
