Introduction
FreshonTV (TvT) is, hands down, one of the best private TV trackers in the world. The tracker has a rich TV content from different parts of the world, specifically the US and Europe. It has Standard Definition (SD), High Definition (HD), and Ultra High Definition (UHD/4K) episodes and seasons, encompassing both old and new shows in English and other foreign languages. Torrents are either single episodes, full season packs, or complete series packs. No partial series packs are accepted, and RAR/Zipped content is not allowed.
FreshonTV is famous for its simple interface design. Each show has its own category that you can browse and sort to explore all episodes and seasons for each show on its own. For the majority of general, mainstream TV fans, this tracker satisfies almost all their TV consumption needs, and here's hardly any need to look for TV torrents elsewhere.
Content
FreshonTV currently has around 21,800+ torrents, and you'll hardly ever have any problems finding the shows you want in the format you desire. It's safe to say that all mainstream shows are available here, in addition to many non-mainstream, less famous shows. Most of the content is either in English or a language of European origin, so don't expect to find many Asian TV series here. It's also not the place to find Latin American telenovelas. Some anime content is available, but this tracker is not the one you want if you're primarily after anime. No porn or hentai is allowed.
SD content is mostly found in HDTV, WEBRip, and DVDRip formats. HD content is available as HDTV, WEB-DL, WEBRip, BDRip, BluRay, and REMUX, but no Full Blu-ray Discs. UHD content is available as WEBRips. Multiple formats (e.g. 1080p WEBRip & 1080p BluRay) of the same season can coexist without being trumped, so can multiple BluRay releases as long as they have different audio codecs (e.g. DTS & DD5.1), so you can choose the release or encoder you prefer.
You can filter out the SD content by choosing to only display HD content, which is very convenient, but should ideally be extended to UHD content as the numbers grows. You can also choose to display only WEB-DLs, although it would be nice to have this for each major release type (i.e. HDTV, WEBRip, BluRay & REMUX). Additionally, you have the option to bookmark torrents you're interested in downloading later, and the bookmarks section retains the exact same look, feel, and consistency as the main website.
Single episodes of the same resolution and source are batched in a season pack when a season is over, and later deleted to prevent dupe content, which keeps the content library clean and tidy.
Internal Releases & Pre-times
While TvT does not have internal encoders or releases, their pre-times are among the fastest for TV content anywhere in the private tracker world, so you'll never have to worry about waiting too long for episodes or seasons to become available.
Tracker Specifics
Ratio Maintenance:
Maintaining a healthy ratio is very easy, thanks to the large number of freeleech and half-leech torrents. The best way to boost your ratio is to snatch popular freeleech torrents as early as possible, either manually, or ideally through RSS Auto-DL, and just keep seeding for as long as you can.
In fact, almost every torrent, regardless of its size, is snatched instantly by a dozen or more fast seedboxes, thanks to the automated RSS Auto-DL. This guarantees that almost any of your uploads will get snatched, which is not necessarily the case with other trackers.
Download discount rules are as follows:
1. 10 GB > has mixed rules:
Some have no download discount, some are half-leech, and few are freeleech, depending oh how it's labeled:
- No label: No download discount
- Yellow label: Half-leech
- Green label: Freeleech
2. All 10 GB+ = Freeleech (Green label)
Regardless of which torrent you download, FreshonTV applies one simple rule for all snatched torrents:
After you have finished downloading a torrent, you must seed for least 24 hours (continuously or summed up) or until you achieve a ratio of at least 1:1 on that torrent, whichever comes first. The rule applies to all torrents, including freeleech.
Any of your downloads that do not satisfy the above rule will instantly appear on your H&R List, along with the how long you have seeded it for (out of the 24-hour minimum). The torrent won't be removed from your H&R List until you meet the rule above. Multiple H&R entries may result in a warning
Seeding & Speeds:
The vast majority of torrents are well-seeded, thanks to the constant download traffic and activity that the tracker experiences. I personally never had any problems with speeds on FreshonTV. Even old torrents are seeded and their speeds range from very reasonable to excellent. Newer content is super fast, thanks to the many seedbox RSS Auto-DLs.
Part of the reason why torrents on FreshonTV are so well seeded is because torrents are automatically deleted from the site if they have been inactive for 10 days, so dead torrents are regularly removed. I'm personally not a fan of this rule, since many good packs are gone simply because they've been dead, and sometimes they get uploaded again after a while. A better idea would to replace this rule with an option to automatically trigger a request reseed from snatchers when a peer is leeching a dead or dying torrent. At the moment, reseed requests are posted manually by users in a sticky thread on the forums, which may not always be very effective.
Uploading:
Very simplified upload form, with minimum requirements, perhaps one of the easiest upload processes anywhere. You don't have to post screenshots or MediaInfo, just enter a simple torrent description, select the show your torrent belongs to, and you're done!
Bonus Points & Invites
Bonus Points:
The tracker does not offer a bonus points system.
Invites:
Members are awarded invites based on their user class. The current structure is as follows [for details on how promotion works, check out the FAQ screenshots at the end]:
TV Collector 1 invite / 3 months TV Freak 1 invite / 3 months TV Maniac 2 invites / 2 months TV Master 2 invites / 2 months TV Guru 3 invites / 1 month Guest of Honor 3 invites / 1 month
Community
Site Activity & Forums:
Because of the daily nature of TV shows, tens of new torrents are added every day, so there's plenty of traffic activity going on at all times, but especially during the hours when episodes of US Primetime shows are released. The forums are fairly active as well, and members discuss all sorts of tracker-specific, torrent-specific and general topics.
Requests:
There is a dedicated Request Form (you can't see it or the list of requests unless you're a TV Collector or above) whereby any member with a TV Freak rank or above can make a request. There's no reward or upload bounty here, and others are free to upvote any request without pledging anything in return. The community is really good at fulfilling requests. Any requests older than 30 days, filled or unfilled, are automatically deleted.
Notable Rules
No Hit & Run:
Detailed above, so be careful about violating this. Seed for 24 hours, or until you achieve a 1:1 ratio, whichever comes first.
Auto Pruning Rules
- Unparked accounts are disabled when 50 days have elapsed since the last recorded activity.
- Parked accounts are disabled when 100 days have elapsed since the last recorded activity.
- Accounts with very low share ratios are regularly cleaned out
- Accounts with 0 upload/download are disabled after 28 days even if the account is parked.
What makes Freshon special or different from other trackers?
In one word - Simplicity!
Simplicity of user interface:
Unlike the other two big TV trackers, MoreThanTV and BroadcasTheNet, FreshonTV is not Gazelle-based. Its interface is TV-focused and to the point, where one category maps to one TV series. It just feels natural and adapts naively to the nature of TV content. Personally, for TV trackers, I think this type of interface is more suitable than the more Music/album-focused Gazelle trackers. However, I think adding filters based on resolution and rip type would be great.
Simplicity of the rules:
One simple rule about required seed time and seed ratio apples to all torrents. As a rule of thumb, maintain an overall ratio of no less than 1.00 (if you don't care about being promoted), and adhere to the 24-hour or 1:1 rule, and you're good to go!
Final Thoughts & Scores
Opinions will differ on which tracker is better: MoreThanTV or FreshonTV, but regardless of which side you're on (Iron Man or Captain America), there's no doubt that FreshonTV is one of top 3 private TV trackers in the world. Simple, fast, and likely to have everything you need. I recommend it to all TV enthusiasts.
