FunSharingCommunity (FSC) News: fatu - The FSC Automatic Torrent Uploader

And here it finally is, the FSC Automatic Torrent Uploader a.k.a. fatu. We prepared a small FAQ to introduce it:

    So what is it eggsactly?
Well, a torrent upload program especially made for FSC. It's not a script or plugin but a full, autonomous, binary program.
fatu has been developed with two things in mind: ease of use and effciency. As mentioned it is delivered as a binary executable which means it's as fast as it gets on each machine and it runs completely on its own.

Okay then, what features does it have?
The main features include not only but also:

    - automatic piece size calculation
    - independent, internal torrent file generation
    - secure, restricted and encrypted communication with the FSC main server
    - unique and individual versions for each user
    - automatic category detection
    - multi threaded
    - automatic torrent feeding to your client
    - default description creation if none is present
    - automatic request filling
    - fast resume seed torrent generation
    - automatic nfo detection
    - separate authentication

    Can I have it?
    Yup
Just as we give upload permissions to all members usually, fatu is not restricted to any specific user classes either. If you want to use it you shall have it!
Simply send a staff pm or contact a staffer in whichever way ...

    How does it work?
Just run it and point it to whatever you wanna upload. It creates the torrent for you, uploads it and gives you the link to your upload. But you can also make use of the additional things it can do like filling requests completely automatically, sending a customized torrent file to your client for seeding or use it as part of a larger setup you have in place already. You can further override most of the automatic features if you feel like it or just some of them.

    Is it stable?
It is indeed. We tested it for several weeks and it's completely in charge of the automatic uploads, so it has been used for many hundred uploads already.

I'm using a shared box, is it safe?
Yes, all you need is the program. There's no config file where you have to add your account data and whatever else. Each version is personalized and is using data only understood by fatu so even if somebody would find that out they couldn't use it for anything on the site. Your regular username and password are not used anywhere.

    Is there a windows version?
No, fatu has been designed for server use and for that windows is not very popular. It's supported on all Unix versions like xBSD, Linux, Solaris ... and also OSX.

So, this should cover the basics. We created a forum topic for anything related to fatu and those who apply will get the eggsact details with the program.
We hope that with this special service we can continue the tradition of FSC being a bit more than just a tracker

The GUI looks pretty dope! id like to try it out sometime. unfortunately my computers are windows. i do have a hp proliant microserver n40l that i use a media center. i use openelec on it tho and it prolly wouldnt work with that. but i am thinking of changing things around a lil. i might change one of my laptops to linux-based and i might change proliant into a raid server and get another device for a mediacenter. Glad i ran into this. this makes the server idea look even better! Sounds like FSC is a cool tracker!

    excellent post bro!!
