I had a similar problem , i have change the password successfully and then the new password stop working..Then with recovery it worked.
Anyway, depends on why you want to change the password , if is urgent or not.

Not urgent, But for security I wanna change it. Someone of my friend might have it, Though I trust him, but still for security purposes. Not an emergency.
