    some torrenting terms

hello I have some terms regarding torrenting in which I feel happy to share

Cross seeding: When the same torrent is on two or more different trackers (with different passkeys), You can donwload it from one, then seed to all. You can even download from public tracker and seed to private ones.

Reinstating: Restoring/checking torrents after you have removed the torrent from your client or moved the file to a different location, or when you change/reinstall your operating system.

difference between flagged, pruned and disabled
When an account is flagged, that account is restricted with many privileges and some accessibility revoked.

For banned accounts, the account is present and entire accessibility is removed. There is no way to access any part of any site. And the user data is stored in the database

Pruned accounts are accounts which are completely deleted, and removed from the site database. Nothing is kept in such case. Pruned accounts are not recoverable, and creating new account is the only way. while a pruned account is indeed deleted from the database, if you intend to register again (I assume you do by the question), use a different email and username, because you can never be sure whether they truly deleted all your information. If they prune your account, they can just say that they can't recover it, but they may still keep your data to make sure you don't register again

Cheating: Using one of the various known methods to abuse ratio, get caught by staff and eventually banned on all cabal trackers.

Comfy: Used to describe a tracker with chill staff, a friendly community and easy bonus points. Examples of comfy trackers include AHD or AB.

Country ban: The practice of banning people residing in certain countries from registering (even when invited), applying for an invite or interviewing. Such country lists vary from tracker to tracker but often include India, thus leading to the curry meme.

Curry: As a noun, refers to a pleb who hasn't gotten in any private tracker and cluelessly begs on /ptg/ by thinking that grovelling enough and saying "gimme gimme" will land them an invite, in the manner of illiterate internet users from 3rd world countries and most notably India (which is infamously banned on many trackers), hence the name. As an adjective, refers to any low-tier tracker with low seed-to-peer ratio, shit content, shit interface and/or shit administrators. Note that cabal trackers, although they may have shit staff, cannot be curry.

Disabled channel: A purgatory where users are rumoured to wait for weeks and months on IRC to get staff's attention, only to be eventually told "no, you won't get your account back and we won't tell you why" or "whoops, we did a mistake, sorry about that".

Ratio: Amount of uploaded data over amount of downloaded data. May be global or torrent-specific. Acts as an indicator of how much you contribute data to the community. If more than 1, you are a positive contributor; if less than 1, you are a leech. Note that on sites where the ratio is hard to gain, having a too high ratio is also frowned upon as you are essentially hoarding credit that could be used by other users to spend, thus reducing tracker activity and harming its economy.

Ratioless: A tracker with no ratio rules. It may still have HnR rules though.

Ratio infinite is generally when you have some upload but no download, its the old divide by zero error and will go away once you have some download.

BitBucket is like GitHub it stores codebases for people/companies using Git and Mercurial.

I think seeded off means when the HnR requirement is fulfilled, or maybe you stopped seeding after HnR requirement is fullfilled.

There are two type of torrents. V1 (most of the private trackers uses V1) and the other one is V2. Maybe hybrid means Both of them combined. (V1+V2=Hybrid) Not sure though, Just a guess.
    Yesterday is history,
    Tomorrow is a mystery,
    But today; Today is a gift;
That's why they call it present.

I saw that in some NexusPHP (Chainese) trackers. Maybe it is just to notify users. Don't know about other sites, but I'm sure about NexuxPHP. Nothing to worry about it Ithink
