I would say late 60's / early 70's. Loads of awesome musicians out there, changing the history of music in an era of experimentation. Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin just to name a few.
Mine points somehow more exact date: 1977-1982 disco, boogie, jazz-funk genres.
