Lil Pump removes racist lines from new song after backlash
It's been entirely omitted...
Lil Pump has removed a racist line from his latest song after it previously attracted widespread backlash.
The ‘I Love It’ star apologised in December 2018 after the line featured in ‘Butterfly Doors’ and featured a derogatory slur towards Asian people.
“They call me Yao Ming ‘cause my eyes real low, ching chong,” he rapped on a short video that teased the new track. In it, he also appeared to make an offensive gesture with his eyes.
However, the official video for ‘Butterfly Doors’ has now been released online – and it appears that the controversial line has been entirely omitted.
Instead, the 18-year-old now raps: ““They call me… ‘cause my eyes real low”, which mutes the word Yao Ming and entirely removes the ching chong reference.
In an initial apology, Lil Pump said: “I seen the whole thing going on on the internet and all that. I came here to tell you from my part that I’m sorry and I apologize for posting that. It was not my intentions to hurt nobody or do none of that. … I got Asian homies, you know. I fuck with everybody and I got nothing against nobody. It’s all love.”
Meanwhile, it transpired on Thursday that Lil Pump will appear at Coachella this year as part of Gucci Gang – a newly formed collaboration that sees him joining forces with Gucci Mane and Smokepurrp.
