Lady Gaga arrives at the Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 24, 2019.
The singer popped into bandleader Brian Newman's lounge show at NoMad on Sunday night (June 2).
It was a night among friends on Sunday (June 2) at Las Vegas’ NoMad Restaurant inside NoMad Hotel at Park MGM where right after her Jazz & Piano show Lady Gaga and pals took over trumpeter and singer Brian Newman’s “After Dark” late-night lounge gig.

Popping in just before midnight and staying for more than 90 minutes, Gaga joined Newman, her Jazz & Piano bandleader, onstage for six songs. Wearing a black sequin caged pillbox hat and a low-cut high-cut blue glittering wrap gown, she belted out “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “Call Me Irresponsible,” “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” “Orange Colored Sky” “Ev’ry Time Say Goodbye” and “Fly Me to the Moon” — at times belting the standards without a microphone.

“How’s everybody doing tonight,” Gaga said as she shimmied up to the microphone.”Well, I sang for two and half hours so this shit we are about to do is fucking irresponsible.”

On song five, exhausted, Gaga finally asked for a chair to be brought to the tiny stage and when she was done with the impromptu set she told the audience “this is what happens after two and half hours of performing and five glasses of whiskey.”

The 100-plus audience members cheered, danced and kept the singer’s boundless amounts of energy going with standing ovation after standing ovation.

“Brian Newman After Dark” debuted May 30 night and runs Thursday to Sunday until June 15. It is meant to reimagine the classic Las Vegas lounge show. Having performed for years on the New York City club circuit, Newman recently released his debut album, Showboat, mixing the jazz influences of Miles Davis and Chet Baker with rock such as Nirvana and Beck.

Newman and Gaga met at the Plaza Hotel’s Oak Room where they struck up an immediate friendship. He co-produced the soundtrack version of “La Vie En Rose” for A Star is Born and was her bandleader and trumpeter for the Cheek to Cheek project with Tony Bennett. Both Gaga and Newman have the same Miles Davis trumpet tattoo on their right arms based on a sketch by Bennett.
