After buying a seedbox few weeks back thought put some tips and info so people know what to do and expect in first few weeks so don't get banned or ratioed by downloading.

I am using a 25gb/2gbits seedbox which I used half for downloading stuff I want and half for ratio reasons (while seeding all files). On a private tracker downloads to seedbox max I have seen is 100mb/s but have consistently seen 30-40mb/sec (as most people seedbox at 1gbits or less I think 2gbits+ is too much as 1gbits is adequate)

On public trackers download to seedbox is around 2-3mb/sec at most but can be around less than 1mb/sec as more busier or less seedboxes on the swarms.

Anyway best thing for ratio improving is to seed popular files and should ratio x3 within few days if pick the right file. Building ratio means you can download files you require sometimes knowing seeding will be zero.

Apart from speeds/storage seedbox is handy to stream video files direct from seedbox to vlc/media player classic. Saves downloading direct which is slower.

Pick up some free unlimited invites can get you going. I would say getting invites to the 'big' private servers is very difficult have to build a reputation which for most casual users is near impossible.

With the seedbox I am using rtorrent is the web software. Read on various forums Deluge is more popular but rtorrent does the job. Also lastly if have a seedbox with 1gbit best to have SSD drive with the seedbox for quicker access/download speeds.
