Ads, oh ads. The things that contain malware, they're ghastly to look at. Let it be on a torrent site or those annoying texts on Google, well all don't favor them. But first before I get started let me put a warning.

WARNING: I am not responsible if your computer crashes, or if you can't turn it back. Best you follow my instructions to avoid this.

So a lot of people know of the adblock in your browser. I'll put a list of you of which adblock I recommend.

All: Adblock Plus

Chrome: Adblock

It is much preferred if you're using Chrome to use AdBlock, the second one on the list. If any other browser use Ablock Plus. I'm sorry if I don't have a Adblock for your browser but we'll get to the problem to fix that anyway.

Now I'm going to talk about the hosts file. Don't worry if you're using Linux by the way, you can still edit it. Now, you don't need to know anything about the hosts file to do any of this really. You just need to know how to backup the hosts file. Because you're not going to have a good time if you're without the original hosts file you once had.

So let's go to website that's going to give us a hosts file that can block ads! Yay!

http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

You can follow the instructions on the page if you want to, that might be easier. Second link is for the more advanced, we'll get to that.

So now you're on the winhelp page, go down to the donate button, you'll see a download link above it. Download the file. Now I'm assuming you have an archiver that can open the file. If not, go HERE . Now extract that into a folder, BUT DO NOT INSTALL IT YET.

We need to make a backup of the original hosts file. You'll find the location of the hosts file on your computer HERE. If you're using Windows, preferable the recent ones, the hosts file will be here: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\

Paste that into Windows Explorer, go into the folder. Copy the "hosts" file and paste it into somewhere secure onto your computer where you know where to find it.

Now you can run mvps.bat. Follow the instructions, install it. Now if anything does go wrong with your hosts file, just go back into the same place and replace it with the backup.

You can manually replace the hosts file if the automation doesn't work or if you're on a different Operating System.

Now getting to the seconds link. You can copy all the text on the left hand side paste it into notepad go into save as, all programs, and name it hosts.

If anything does go wrong, don't blame me, I'm just giving you a tutorial, this is meant to block ads, not destroy your internet experience.

I hope you enjoyed.
