The world of the hit horror video game Dead by Daylight is coming to comics with an official adaptation from Titan Comics. Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical horror game that puts fans in the middle of a horror movie. Four players work together to evade a vicious killer and escape, while another player takes on the antagonistic role alone and tries to kill every survivor before they can power up the exit gates. Dead by Daylight's success has seen it become the video game that celebrates horror from all corners of the world. It's known for bringing classic horror killers like Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface and Sadako from Ringu together in one game. However, their original creations are what add meat to the game's backstory.

Lore has become a big part of expanding the Dead by Daylight universe. The game takes place in a realm where an Entity feeds on survivors' hope by forcing them to engage in trials against these killers. Information about new killers and survivors comes with them as they released to give players a sense of who they were before taking part. In 2019, the developers included a new feature called the Archives, which gave fans a chance to learn even more about their favorite original characters as well as expand the world of the game. Now, these characters will get to have more of their stories told in an entirely new medium thanks to Titan Comics!

Titan Comics recently took to Twitter to announce a new partnership with Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive in making an official comic book. The new series is expected to be penned by Nadia Shammas and tell a new prequel story involving the Legion, a band of young killers from Ormond, Canada who terrorized their town with petty crimes like vandalism before turning to murder. Dillon Snook will be bringing these characters to life through visuals as the official artist for the comic. Details on what the Legion's story in the Dead by Daylight comic will entail are being kept under wraps, but there are so many possibilities out there due to certain aspects that were hinted at in their original lore. What's even better though is that their comic debut opens the path for more Dead by Daylight characters to take the leap onto the page.


Dead by Daylight has a massive cast of characters. As of right now, there are 20 original survivors and and 18 original killers. This doesn't count the licensed characters in the game, which bring the numbers even higher. There's high potential for new comics centering around these horror heroes and villains. Before Talbot Grimes became the Blight, he was a wanderer through the Fog-filled realm. Before Mikaela Reid was taken by the Entity, she was a barista who specialized in witchcraft and storytelling. And then there's the Dredge, the newest original killer that is a mysterious Lovecraftian creature that moves through the darkness. All of these characters have intricate backstories that could be explored in comics, and if the Legion's tale succeeds, it could open the doorway for fans' favorite killers and survivors to find a place on their shelves.

The first issue of the new Dead by Daylight comic will arrive in March 2023. More information regarding the release is expected to come as the date approaches. This pairing between Titan Comics and Dead by Daylight is exciting news for fans of the game and could be the next big horror comic hit when it arrives next year.
