Deep Silver has announced today that the third Saints Row game is being released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC as Saints Row: The Third Remastered. The original title came out almost nine years ago, but will be getting extensive upgrades in order to run on current generation systems. Fans of the Saints Row franchise can expect the title on May 22, 2020.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered is receiving a massive update before its release later this year. Cars, weapons, character models, and the environment have been redesigned in order to match the graphics of more powerful consoles. Additionally, all three expansion packs are being included with the title, so players will have access to more than 30 pieces of DLC at launch. While Saints Row: The Third will look noticeably more impressive, the game itself is the same as it was when it first released.
This remaster comes hot on the heels of the Nintendo Switch port of Saints Row IV Re-Elected. Players were able to jump back into the superpowered and insanity fueled fourth entry in a whole new way, and it seems to have reinvigorated a lot of people's love of the franchise. It was also announced last year that Volition is currently developing Saints Row 5. While there is no word on when that game will release, it seems that the company is trying to hype fans up with re-releases of previous entries in the franchise. Fans of the series will be sure to be happy to jump back into Steelport in May when Saints Row: The Third Remastered releases.
