The next Xbox Games Showcase is coming this Thursday as part of this year’s Summer Games Fest, and word has it that some never-before-seen titles will be revealed. With the hardware for both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 now unveiled, the focus has shifted towards the games that will be available on these next-gen systems, which will ultimately be one of the main deciding factors that players will gravitate towards when both consoles hit stores this holiday season.

While Microsoft’s last Xbox showcase event drew criticism for not featuring any actual gameplay footage, it did provide fans with first looks at several new titles like Vampire: The Masquerade 2 - Bloodlines 2 and Yakuza: Like A Dragon, along with further looks at such games as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. A second event was then announced for July, which promises to focus on first-party exclusives like the long-awaited Halo: Infinite and Psychonauts 2. Not only that, but it seems that there will be some new surprises in store for those tuning in on social media before the big event.

A couple of days ago, Xbox marketing executive Aaron Greenberg retweeted a message from Summer Games Fest organizer Geoff Keighley advertising the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on July 23. Greenberg added that in addition to the aforementioned Halo: Infinity content, there will be a number of new games being revealed for the first time during the event’s Pre-Show, which will be streamed on YouTube at 11 AM Eastern/8 AM Pacific time. Xbox started out strong in the build-up to the next console generation, revealing the Series X way ahead of the PS5 at The Games Awards back in December. However, Sony caught up with a vengeance in June during its live Future of Gaming event, which revealed both its new console and a multitude of first-party titles. Viewership for the PS5 showcase was so high that Xbox decided to forgo any major announcements last month, with smaller rumors regarding a slimmer Series X model and additional information surrounding Microsoft's cross-generational Smart Delivery feature making up the bulk of Xbox-related news.

However, Microsoft is now aiming to regain the ground it lost in June with this week’s Xbox Games Showcase. There’s no official word yet on what other titles will be shown besides Halo: Infinite, but the idea of seeing new games is always an exciting prospect. After all, it is the games themselves that will make or break the next generation of consoles, which fans will get yet another enticing taste of during this Thursday’s Xbox Games Showcase.
