Both are important
Both! Not fussed about "high end graphics".. but it does need good visualisation. A good example is super meat boy, anything can run that, but if the visualisation and gameplay mechanics didn't work together the game would have sucked.
Gameplay all the time. Still needs to look decent though. That's why CS is still the greatest.
Pixel optic and good gameplay :)
both....
Without gameplay game is nothing
Some games are very entertaining although lacking complex graphics , dito Tetris
Gameplay
gameplay! graphics didn't used to be a thing with 8-bits
I still like to dust off the retro games from time to time, and, of course, the graphix are terrible by today's standards, but the games are still fun to play. Conversely, anyone remember Mass Effect 3?...
Depends really. I can play old games and don't mind the graphics but I hate when theres more recent games that look like shite like minecraft. I don't go anywhere near games released around 2010 or newer but look like there were released in the 90s.
Gameplay first, PC has the best of both worlds.
first graphics, then game play. if the graphics don't satisfy me from the first place, I don't really get the motivation to play :(
A gameplay without graph is dumb and graph without gameplay is what we call a movie so we need both :embarassed:
Gameplay is the most important in video games as long as it's done right.
Gameplay, but these days there's no real excuse for either to be bad, just corner cutting or laziness.
For me personaly the story is first followed by gameplay, because it could have the best gameplay and ghraphics but without a good stroy you can't have a good experence.
I think it's a combination of both but i'm always down for some next level graphics because i'm getting into the game!
Of course gameplay, game without decent gameplay is like (censored).
I still think older games with amazing storyline and gameplay are better (and playable even today) than some newer ones where graphics are the most important part. If you can have both though, props to you! But gameplay comes first!
I like having the best of both worlds. I recently tried to play my nintendo 64 that was in my closet, and the resolution was so blurry, I just couldn't do it. I feel like i'm selling myself short playing a game with bad graphics, especially when i've spent 500 dollars on a video card. Graphics are not everything tho, as sound gameplay fundamentals still need to be present to grab my attention.
both! if possible of course. i do miss having great quality but i do tend to turn down the graphics quite a bit to play them as smooth as possible. so i guess my real answer is gameplay.
Game play but game play and amazing graphics is the Holy grail.
I like to play games at the highest quality preset my current rig supports, but its not about the graphics per-say. If the graphics quality is low, but the gameplay/story is good, thats what matters.
Gameplay! I don't care how nice it looks, it better have replay value! In this day and age it's hard to find a game that has horrible graphics and great gameplay as opposed to it being the other way around.
Gameplay is my choice.
I think I love graphics a lot. Ofcourse gameplay has to be awesome too... But the graphics need to be just perfect.
Definitely gameplay, because ugly games that are great gameplay wise can be really fun. However, beautiful games that suck gameplay wise are never fun.
gameplay
Considering i lean more towards retro games, i prefer game play over graphics (and story-line)
Definitely gameplay, but graphics matter too. Usually you'll hear the phrase "graphics don't matter" from the Nintendo crowd, but nowadays they're backpedalling on a lot of things, like how they used to shun having many third-party games. But now they're back on Nintendo consoles again they're A-OK apparently! I think the phrase "graphics don't matter" is complete BS. Gameplay is a much more important factor to me (as well as a decent narrative in single-player games) but you probably wouldn't play a game that looks like ET for the Atari very often, even if the gameplay was fun.
Good graphics can be part of the fun. Just like how we enjoy good photography, it's fun to marvel at beautifully rendered game worlds.
we call it a "game", right? So, if the gameplay is lacking, that's a major problem
Ideally both would be nice but I would rather a game that is enjoyable to play than one that just looks good
It depends on the game for me. It's got to have some level of graphical sophistication. On the other hand, if the story is not engaging it doesn't matter how pretty the game is. I enjoy all the Bioshock games, Far Cry series, Half Life and Portal, GTA San Andreas, and others.
Tricky question, I think gameplay is more important, but graphics should be decent too, in order to enjoy a game
Game Play all time everytime
Gameplay all the way. I can deal with low budget visuals so long as it's appealing enough the gameplay dept
Its all about gameplay, You can forgive graphics if the gameplay is awesome.
Gameplay. You can never have great graphics with broken gameplay. Games are all about proper programming/coding. Graphics will always come last, but are indeed an important part of a game, so both must flow in conjuction...
Gameplay and sound.
One of my favorite games is Ori and the Blind forest and the music score just blows me away. It's one of the games in the past 13 years that I've replayed more than once.
