Tropico 6 scores – our roundup of the critics
After a two month delay that pushed its release date back, Tropico 6 is out today. The return of El Presidente means that it’s time to see what the critics thought of the latest idyllic (or not-so idyllic, depending on your playstyle) island of Tropico.
In our own Tropico 6 PC review, Jeremy said that the latest was fun, but ultimately forgettable. He says that “it’s rare that the ideas in Tropico 6 feel dangerous, rather than the slow iteration of a series that’s already found a cool and comfortable spot in the shade of the management genre,” and overall describes the game as “a safe pair of hands for colourful city-building and wry commentary on the abuse of democracy.”
Elsewhere, it seems that other critics were a little more impressed. At time of writing, Tropico 6 boasts an impressive opening score of 78 on OpenCritic. Over on Metacritic, that score is only very slightly lower, and currently sits at a still very respectable 77.
Without further ado, let’s check out some of those Tropico 6 review scores:
PCGamesN: 7/10
PC Gamer: 79/100
God is a Geek: 8/10
IGN: 73/100
Game Revolution: 4/5
Windows Central: 4.5/5
Those scores suggest that if you’re a fan of the series, or the city-building genre as a whole, you’ll have a good time on your next trip to Tropico. Just don’t expect El Presidente’s latest public appearance to spark a revolution.
