The ever-elusive golden crowns will be easier than ever to pick up in season 2 of the beloved battle royale Fall Guys. Currently the most reliable way to earn crowns is to win matches; though a few do turn up in the game's season reward track. This rare currency is used to buy some of the game's rarest costumes, which makes them especially valuable, as costumes are one of the most prominent unlockable rewards in the game.
Fall Guys is nearing the end of its first gameplay season. The game was an overnight sensation when it launched, attracting so many players that it caused server issues. The cartoony aesthetic and adorable jellybean characters made Fall Guys a cultural icon, and it's being discussed even by professional wrestlers like the Undertaker. The developers have been working hard to ensure that these legions of fans are just as entertained by the second season, which will feature a host of new obstacle courses and costumes based on medieval times.
The newest update from season 2 will be a relief for players who struggle to routinely win games. As announced on the Fall Guys Twitter page, the Season 2 reward track will feature over 600% more crowns than the track in season one, thus ensuring that more players will be able to gain access to the rarer and more exclusive costumes. The post recognizes that it isn't always easy to reliably win against 59 other contestants, calling out unfortunate streamer TimTheTatMan in the process. To make sure higher-tier players don't feel like their hard-earned rewards are being cheapened, Fall Guys is also hinting at new compensation for competitive players, including a mysterious new nameplate system. So much of the fan culture that has sprung up around Fall Guys is dedicated to the unlockable costumes. It's easy to see why; the costumes are adorable, and it's a lot of fun to dress up one's jelly bean. But this also means that it can be frustrating for lower-skill players who aren't able to muster up the crowns to unlock the best, most desirable outfits. Making those outfits more accessible for everyone is a very good thing, and it ensures that everyone will be able to express themselves through their jellybean to their heart's content.
There's a lot to love about Fall Guys. Even after a scant five minutes of play it's easy to see why the game is such a success. Based on what's been seen of season 2 so far it doesn't look like developer Mediatonic has lost sight of why everyone loves the game, and that's definitely a good thing. Season two of Fall Guys ought to be just as much of a blast as season one, and thanks to this crown update, it will be all the more flamboyant too.
