Thanks to a surprise reveal trailer at Gamescom 2020 Opening Night, eager fans finally got a taste of Dragon Age 4. Details on the actual plot of the game are still scant, but the latest entry in BioWare's popular Dragon Age series looks impressive. In addition to seeing at least one returning character, developers at BioWare shared information on some newcomers as well.
It's been six years since the last installment in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, released, and BioWare has since been busy with other IPs like Anthem. Since confirming Dragon Age 4 was in development, BioWare hasn't given fans much else to go on, but that's all changed now that a Dragon Age 4 trailer appeared at Gamescom without warning. In addition to new characters, details were shared on at least one returning character who fans love — and hate — and love to hate.

After the ending of Dragon Age: Inquisition, fans have been wondering about Solas's fate and whether or not the character would appear in the next game. Thankfully, the new Gamescom trailer has given fans their first look at Solas in Dragon Age 4. Solas is seen speaking directly to the player's character in the trailer, and despite mentioning the Dread Wolf, it's still unclear how Solas and the game's protagonist will be tied to the elven god.

Although he's getting the most attention, Solas may not be the only returning character featured in the new Dragon Age 4 trailer. Eagle-eyed viewers have quickly begun to wonder if the mustachioed mage, Dorian Pavus, appears in a piece of concept art shown during the presentation. The artwork does feature a mustachioed character, but it's unclear whether it's in fact Dorian or not. Like Solas, fans have been wondering about Dorian's fate after the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Although BioWare hasn't confirmed Dorian is actually in the new game, it seems likely — since he's a fan-favorite character.
The trailer also gives fans their first glimpse at two new characters: Bellaria and Davrin. Although the trailer doesn't show much in-game footage, the characters' voice actors are shown for a few moments. Jee Young Han (who Comedy Bang! Bang! fans may recognize as Jee the PA) is voicing Bellaria, and Ike Amaldi (who also voices Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 11) is voicing Davrin. These new characters may be new party members, although that's still uncertain from the trailer.
Despite a lack of plot details, it looks like Dragon Age 4 is shaping up nicely. Fans are understandably excited by the latest video footage of the game, and from seeing returning and new characters. More information will certainly drop as Dragon Age 4 gets closer to a release date.
