A new listing suggests that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order may be getting a complete next-gen upgrade for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Fallen Order already received an upgrade for the new consoles, which improved the framerate and resolution of the game. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order achieves this by implementing a dedicated performance and fidelity mode that players can choose in the game's options.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order made waves with its release as one of the best games to come out of the Star Wars franchise during EA's tenure with the license. It used Dark Souls-like combat with traditional Star Wars characters and settings. Fallen Order exceeded many expectations, given the mishandling of Star Wars Battlefront II's launch in 2017 by EA. Although players were left disappointed by Fallen Order's performance issues and uninspired gameplay elements, its remarkable story was engaging enough to earn overall positive reviews.
In a report by WCCFTech, Germany's USK rating board lists a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version of the game. While this does not clearly state that a native version of the game is coming for next-gen consoles, there is the possibility that EA has plans to do so. EA has canceled other Star Wars games in the past so the fact that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Fallen Order are being put up for review by rating boards is a positive indication. No other information relating to a next-gen version of the game is available yet.

Next-gen updates of games are becoming pretty standard now with the new console launches. Microsoft has been adding performance and fidelity modes to older Xbox One games by using its FPS Boost and Smart Delivery optimization options for the Series X. Sony has also implemented updates to its first-party through free updates and working with devs to optimize for PlayStation 5. However, not all updates are the same as each developer enhances its game in different ways.
Control Ultimate Edition upgrade, for example, adds a performance mode targeting 60 FPS and a fidelity mode that adds ray-tracing at a max of 30 FPS. However, Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales adds both as well as a third option with ray-tracing at 60 FPS and checkerboard 4K textures. It would be interesting what Fallen Order would do with the better hardware on next-gen. Whatever EA has planned for the title, expect more news to come in the following months as Summer approaches.
