Black Adam producer Beau Flynn shares his response to the set leaks from the forthcoming DCEU feature. The upcoming movie marks the first superhero venture for one of Hollywood's most bankable action heroes, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Johnson has been attached to play Black Adam since 2014, and after numerous production delays, his Man in Black is ready to make his feature debut this October. Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and it sees the titular Kahndaqian anti-hero freed after being imprisoned for 5,000 years. The Justice League of America, which includes Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, also has a pivotal role in the movie, although its association with Black Adam isn't currently clear.

Ever since Black Adam has gone into production, there has been plenty of intriguing promotional items from the movie. The 2021 DC FanDome revealed a full look at Johnson's outfit, as well as at Brosnan's superhero, while subsequent Black Adam trailers and teasers also showed off the live-action versions of the remaining JSA members. But before all this material became available, some Twitter accounts attempted to leak Black Adam's wardrobe, posting pictures of the leading anti-hero's ensemble, as well as of Hawkman's helmet, armor, and his Thanagarian Star Cruiser. DC and WB were alarmed by the leaks and immediately took notice of the situation.

In a discussion with THR, Flynn revealed how he dealt with the set leaks from Black Adam. As the producer mentions, he has full faith in the crews and casts he works with, and he is sure that the Black Adam leaks did not come from anyone he knew. Rather they were posted by an outsider. And as soon his team realized that the leaks had begun circulating, they cracked down on all the shady accounts. Flynn admits that tracking down the leaker was difficult, yet they managed to take down all the unauthorized Twitter handles. Additionally, before many people could see the leaked images, the official look at Johnson's Black Adam costume was unveiled. Read what Flynn said below.

“I really trust the casts and crews we work with but we work really hard at it. We make it very clear that you can’t post ever without approval from the producers and the studio. The crews we work with have been doing this long enough that they really help protect us.

We had a lot of leaks on that set and it wasn’t anyone in our crew. We shut down those accounts and were able to trace it back [to the source]. But it was really hard. The good news is that we were able to release the costume featuring Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam before it got out — but it was close.”

Viewers can look up and check for themselves that all the Twitter accounts that were previously illicitly posting Black Adam set photos and videos are now permanently defunct. This strict action on the part of the filmmakers also discouraged others from sharing more spoiler-y content from the movie, even though the leaks were still out there. It seems that Black Adam is setting up a new precedent for confidentiality for DC movies, as the security wasn't as tight on other films like Batgirl and Shazam! Fury of the Gods that were in production at the same time.

Due to the strict secrecy and prompt action against leakers, DC has managed to keep the story details for Black Adam under wraps, contributing to a general buzz and curiosity around the film. Since Black Adam is being introduced theatrically for the first time, it's necessary that the film maintains a level of intrigue, as this way, even those who aren't familiar with the property will remain curious about the movie, keeping their eyes peeled for the premiere. Sure the official Black Adam trailer has given some idea of what will go down once Johnson's anti-hero is resurrected, but it didn't give away any substantial information about the dynamic between the characters, the canonical connection with the larger DCEU, the intentions of the main lead, or the involvement of a villain. With so much obscured, and no unofficial channel to turn to, fans are more likely to go to theatres to watch the movie and learn more about Black Adam themselves.
