The official logo for Dwayne Johnson's upcoming DC superhero movie Black Adam has been revealed, and it references the character's Shazam! connection. The movie has been one of Johnson's passion projects, as he's been attached to various versions of it for more than a decade. The character was initially going to debut in David F. Sandberg's Shazam! but that was scrapped in favor of a solo movie that will explore the character's origins.

The movie was meant to start filming this summer, but that was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, pre-production is still going ahead, despite the new shooting date of early 2021, with Johnson revealed a first look at the character yesterday, ahead of the first look at the movie at today's DC FanDome event, which has already released a trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 as well as a behind-the-scenes look at The Suicide Squad. Johnson himself hosted the panel, which included a few surprises.

One of those surprises at the DC FanDome panel was the reveal of the official logo for the movie. The title treatment is black with the second 'A' in Adam shaped like a lightning bolt. The black and yellow of the logo also tie in with the costume reveal, and make the connection to Shazam! obvious. Clearly the two characters are destined to meet at some point in the DC Extended Universe. You can see the logo below.

The reveal of the logo and the costume for Black Adam proves that pre-production on the movie is further along than had previously been thought. Which is a good thing, considering the movie is due to be released in just over 15 months. If the creative team behind the movie, which includes Jaume Collet-Serra, who also helmed Johnson's Jungle Cruise for Disney, want to meet that release date, they'll have to work quickly, as the visual effects for a big blockbuster superhero movie can often take up to a year.

The other reveals at the FanDome panel show that the movie, much like Shazam! before it, will combine elements of action and humor, something Johnson has proven he is adept at in the past, with his roles in movies like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle as well as the sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, which was released last year. With both the costume and the official logo revealed, the marketing for Black Adam is well underway.
