Producer Hiram Garcia shares why Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam will be the most powerful character in the DCEU. Over the years, the DCEU has introduced its fair share of formidable figures, from Wonder Woman to Superman. 2022 will bring about a debut fans have long been looking forward to; Black Adam, the first solo movie starring Johnson, premieres in July. Johnson has been trying to get a film centered on the DC anti-hero made for years now, but it only recently gained real traction. Production on Black Adam took place last spring, and the first bit of footage was shared at DC FanDome in October.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam explores the origins of the titular character, who was once a slave in the ancient city of Kahndaq. After being endowed with incredible powers, Black Adam was imprisoned for years, only to resurface in the present day. Plot specifics beyond that are still being kept under wraps. In addition to Johnson, Black Adam stars Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan.

Garcia, the president of production for Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions, recently spoke to Collider about virtually every project the busy actor has coming up. On the subject of Black Adam, Garcia explained what the creative team hoped to do with the highly-anticipated DC character. He assured fans that they "didn't go soft with him," and stated his belief that Black Adam is the most powerful figure in the comics universe. Garcia said:

Look, for us, it was very important with the fandom piece to... Even though we didn't show much, we really wanted to just let fans know and people around the world know that we were setting a tone here with Black Adam and that this is a guy who doesn't pull his punches. We didn't go soft with him. There's a reason why we wanted to show the first person that approaches him is no longer is on the planet. So I think we let people know this guy is a very different character than Shazam or Superman or so forth. He is a bad dude. He's probably the most powerful person in the DC Universe right now, and he's a handful, but DJ does a really good job of bringing him to life, and I think fans are going to have a lot of fun watching him.

All throughout Black Adam's pre-production and filming, Johnson and others have hyped the character's immense power. To put things in perspective, there are many (Johnson included) who want Black Adam to fight Superman, and there's a good chance the anti-hero would best the Man of Steel. Black Adam will reportedly disrupt the balance of the DCEU, and Garcia's comments indicate the movie won't skimp out on depicting the true extent of his powers.

That makes Black Adam's DCEU future incredibly exciting. While it remains to be seen if he'll ever get to fight Superman onscreen, the odds are good for Black Adam to face his comics nemesis Shazam. As anyone who has seen 2019's Shazam knows, Zachary Levi's superpowered teen has incredible abilities of his own, and watching him battle Black Adam will be an exciting bit of entertainment. With all this hype surrounding Johnson's DC character, one just has to hope the movie follows through with highlighting his skill. Based on what's been said so far, fans better brace themselves for the storm that is Black Adam.
