The official trailer for Henry Selick's upcoming Netflix stop-motion horror comedy Wendell & Wild has been released, teasing a promising return for one beloved comedic duo: Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. Wendell & Wild will be the first feature film since Coraline from Selick, who co-wrote the screenplay with Peele based on an unpublished book of the same name that he collaborated with Clay McLeod Chapman. Selick and Peele were also producers on the film which follows two demon brothers living in the underworld, Wendell (Key) and Wild (Peele), who rope 13-year-old Kat Elliot, voiced by Lyric Ross, into their antics by summoning them to the land of the living.

Wendell & Wild also marks the reunion of Key and Peele. The pair's sketch comedy series, Key and Peele, ran on Comedy Central for five seasons during which the show garnered a dedicated fanbase as well as critical acclaim, winning two Emmy Awards including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series in 2016. Following the show's finale, the duo collaborated on the 2016 buddy action comedy Keanu, before pursuing different career paths in Hollywood. While Key remained in front of the camera acting in films such as Jingle Jangle in 2020 and Netflix show Friends From College from 2017 to 2019, Peele has proven his visionary strength as a director, writer, and producer of horror in recent years, winning the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for 2018’s Get Out and subsequently releasing Us (2019) and Nope (2022) to vast commendation as well.

Six years after their last collaboration, Key and Peele are back as the titular magician mortician's in Henry Selick's Wendell & Wild. The new trailer for the stop-motion film blending horror and comedy was recently released by Netflix and offers fans a glimpse at the devious brothers' antics and the mayhem that ensues when they strike a mortal deal with Kat, a teen with a harrowing past and tremendous guilt. Jordan Peele Combining His Comedy And Horror Backgrounds

The film's dark yet humorously chaotic premise promises another venture for Peele to display his knack for seamlessly blending comedy and horror. His career has traversed the two genres, from his success in sketch comedy show alongside Key to his breakout turn as a filmmaker known for using elements of horror to express commentary on social inequities, particularly concerning race and economic class. With Wendell & Wild, Peele sees a chance to build on his success across the genres and use his skills as a voice actor and writer to highlight a connection between horror and comedy.

Wendell & Wild had its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year and has been met with glowing reviews. The film is set to be released in select cinemas on October 21, 2022, before its Netflix release on October 28, 2022. Fans will know for certain if Key and Peele's iconic collaborative power has remained as strong since their six-year break when Wendell & Wild hits theaters and Netflix.
