Sony has also opted to push Morbius back several months, with a March 19, 2021 release now planned. The Jared Leto-led Marvel movie initially was set to be one of the final blockbusters of the summer season this year. But, instead of waiting a bit longer to see late July would still be a viable release date or moving the film back just a few months, Sony is playing it safe with Morbius and many other titles with this long delay.

The delay of Morbius currently means that it will open opposite a franchise that is already established, as Tomb Raider 2 is scheduled for March 19, 2021 as well. Alicia Vikander will return to star as Lara Croft in the sequel with Ben Wheatley attached to direct. Tomb Raider 2 has yet to start production, and there have been no reports that it will be impacted by coronavirus. But, since filming was reportedly set to begin in early 2020, its possible Tomb Raider 2 won't hit this date after all.

Universal's handling of F9's release represents the most drastic change to date. The film was originally scheduled to open in April 2020, but the studio opted to push the release back an entire year due to coronavirus. Since F9's marketing campaign had already begun, this year-long delay will just give director Justin Lin more time to finish the film. But, this delay also meant that F9 took the April 4, 2021 release date previously set for Fast & Furious 10.

Marvel Studios is currently expecting that coronavirus will not mark another change to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. With Sam Raimi reportedly attached to direct, Doctor Strange 2 is scheduled to begin production this summer and still hit the May 7, 2021 release date. Benedict Cumberbatch is back to star as Doctor Strange with Elizabeth Olsen returning as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch. The production and release plans could still change, but that has yet to happen.

Warner Bros. has yet to change The Matrix 4's release date, but it might not be released on May 21, 2021 after all. Production began early this year with Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne-Moss, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II reporting for duty, but filming is now paused. The Matrix 4 was just beginning to shoot overseas when production shut down, and there have been reports that it is in danger of having its release delayed. The longer production can't move forward, and the more likely Neo's return in The Matrix 4 will be delayed.
