Tom Cruise has revealed that he's open to joining the DC movie universe. While promoting Mission: Impossible - Fallout, he stated that he's not ruling out any possibility of one day playing a live-action superhero.

Despite being an A-list actor who has tackled everything from big budget blockbusters like the Mission: Impossible series to '80s staples like Top Gun to prestige picture that earned him Oscar nominations like Born on the Fourth of July, there is one corner of Hollywood that Tom Cruise hasn't yet attempted: the superhero genre. He's come close with roles he's taken in the action/adventure genre, but none have ever required him to suit up in tights and a cape. That said, the multifaceted actor isn't likely to say no to the opportunity, assuming the material is up to his standards.

In an interview with MTV at CinemaCon, Cruise explained that "there's always another mountain," when asked if he would ever be willing to play the lead in a superhero movie. When asked if his Mission: Impossible - Fallout costar, Henry Cavill, ever attempted to lure Cruise into the DC movie universe, he said:

"There's always another mountain in anything. I'll never say no if I find something that's interesting, and I think an audience would like to see it, and they're going to be entertained by it, and I feel like I can contribute something."

Cavill, who played Clark Kent/Superman in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, responded to Cruise joining the DC movie universe (specifically playing the role of Green Lantern) enthusiastically, telling MTV that "There would be something very interesting in that." That said, Cavill didn't specify as to whether or not this is something that Cruise is actually considering.

It's difficult to say exactly how Warner Bros will approach the DC movie universe from hereon forward. Though Wonder Woman was both a critical and financial success, other DC tentpoles failed to meet the mark, leading to the belief that WB won't pull any punches in guaranteeing future successes. And seeing as Cruise is still very much a bankable actor with massive audience appeal, it's fair to assume that they may well reach out to him for a starring role in the DC movie franchise. In fact, director Christopher McQuarrie, who has been one of Cruise's most consistent collaborators within the past decade, has even voiced a willingness to make Man of Steel 2 with Cavill, if he were asked. Maybe there's a role for Cruise in there somewhere?

Yes the Mummy was not a great movie but the worst part of it was Cruise.
If it was not for Cruise the cost would have been much less and the story could have gone differently.
