Linda Hamilton from Terminator: Dark Fate says that she "would really love to be done" with the role of Sarah Connor. Hamilton appeared in two Terminator films prior to last year's Dark Fate. The actress helped kick off the franchise by playing Connor alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator and Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese. Hamilton then turned into one of the most iconic action heroines of the '90s after starring in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
After three disappointing movies in the franchise, fans were thrilled to hear that Hamilton was reprising her role as Sarah Connor. Not only did Hamilton return to the series, but James Cameron returned to produce the film, which many hoped would help revitalize the franchise. All the pieces were there for it to succeed, but unfortunately, Terminator: Dark Fate got mixed reviews. Now, Hamilton says she doesn't want to return to the series.
In a recent interview with THR, Hamilton revealed that she isn't interested in coming back for another Terminator film. Hamilton explained that she doesn't think future films should have millions of dollars on the line and that she doesn't want to return, saying, "It should definitely not be such a high-risk financial venture, but I would be quite happy to never return. So, no, I am not hopeful because I would really love to be done."

Hamilton has had a steady acting career since the '80s, with her career slightly starting to slow down in the past decade. Despite her dozens of acting credits, Sarah Connor is still her most well-known character, given the popularity of the Terminator series. Terminator: Dark Fate didn't end on a cliffhanger, but definitely set up the possibility for sequels. At this point though, Paramount Pictures will probably put the Terminator franchise on hold.
Seeing another Terminator sequel in the near future seems rather unlikely since Terminator: Dark Fate bombed at the box office. After having Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, Terminator Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate fail to connect with fans and critics, Paramount is probably considering retiring the franchise for the time being. That being said, the studio will no doubt try to reboot Terminator sometime down the road. It took some convincing for Hamilton to return as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Dark Fate, so when/if Paramount tries to reboot Terminator, don't expect the actress to return again.
