Salma Hayek and Annie Murphy are in talks to star in the new season of Black Mirror, according to a report from Variety. The dystopian Netflix series is slowly assembling a star-studded roster of talent for its sixth season, with Hayek and Murphy the latest actors set to join the cast.

Elsewhere it was reported that Scream 4 actor Rory Culkin, who was most recently seen in FX’s Under the Banner of Heaven, is also officially joining the show. There are currently no available details on what characters Hayek and Murphy would play or if they would even feature in the same episode.

Hayek is set to star in Steven Soderbergh’s forthcoming film Magic Mike’s Last Dance and recently wrapped on Angelina Jolie’s new movie Without Blood. Her previous television work includes the NBC comedy series 30 Rock and the ABC comedy-drama Ugly Betty, the latter for which she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Most recently she starred in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci and Marvel’s Eternals. She also produced the Disney Star series Santa Evita.

Murphy, meanwhile, is best known for playing Alexis Rose on the award-winning comedy Schitt’s Creek, which earned her an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She also leads the AMC series Kevin Can F**k Himself and starred in the second season of Netflix’s Russian Doll.

A new season of Black Mirror was revealed to be in the works back in May, though specific details about stories are still being kept under wraps. It was known that it would have more episodes than Season 5, which comprised of just three instalments and starred Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace and Miley Cyrus. Each episode is being developed as a stand-alone film and described as "more cinematic in scope".

Season 6 was previously reported to star Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), Paapa Essiedu (Gangs of London), Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful), Kate Mara (Call Jane), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), Clara Rugaard (The Rising), Auden Thornton (This Is Us), and Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts). More actors are expected to be announced.

Black Mirror began life on U.K. broadcaster Channel 4, where it aired for two seasons before moving to the streaming giant and gaining more popularity. Created by Charlie Brooker, the show is an anthology series made up of self-contained episodes, each dealing with a dystopian future affected by some form of technology.
