Star Trek: Strange New Worlds reveals new season 2 key art for the crew of the USS Enterprise. The hotly-anticipated second season of Strange New Worlds premieres on Paramount+ on June 15, 2023. The 10-episode Strange New Worlds season 2 picks up where season 1 left off as Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the Starship Enterprise continues their 5-year mission to explore the galaxy.
To celebrate First Contact Day 2023, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2's new portraits feature the 8 principal cast members aboard the USS Enterprise. These include Anson Mount as Captain Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Lt. Commander Una Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Captain Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Celia Rose Gooding as Ensign Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. Joseph M'Benga, and Christina Chong as Lt. La'an Noonien-Singh. Check out the art below:
What To Expect From Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2
Curiously absent from the new Strange New Worlds season 2 portraits are the two new characters known to be coming aboard the USS Enterprise. Paul Wesley joins Strange New Worlds season 2 as Lt. James T. Kirk and Carol Kane plays the Enterprise's new Chief Engineer, Lt. Pelia. Wesley's Jim Kirk is the young version of the iconic Enterprise Captain played by William Shatner in Star Trek: The Original Series. Pelia replaces the late Lt. Hemmer (Bruce Horak) as Chief Engineer. Horak also returns in Strange New Worlds as an unspecified new character.
Strange New Worlds season 2 has to follow up season 1's cliffhanger of Una Chin-Riley being arrested by Starfleet for lying about being a genetically engineered Illyrian. In addition, La'an left the Enterprise in Strange New Worlds episode 9 on an errand of mercy. The new Strange New Worlds character art showing both Number One and La'an back in uniform indicates that the two best friends will be resuming their duties aboard the Starship Enterprise in season 2.
In addition, Strange New Worlds season 2 will feature a historic crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks. In a comedy episode directed by Jonathan Frakes, Lower Decks' Ensigns Brad Boimer and Beckett Mariner will come aboard Pike's USS Enterprise, with Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome playing their animated heroes in live-action. Strange New Worlds season 2 will also visit the classic Star Trek world Rigel VII, and these are just some of the voyages to look forward to when the 23rd-century Starship Enterprise warps back into action.
