The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power stars Morfydd Clark and Charlie Vickers reveal what their favorite scenes are from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved fantasy novels, Prime Video's highly-anticipated series depicts the rise of evil in Middle-earth's prosperous Second Age. The Rings of Power introduces a host of new characters, like Vickers' Halbrand, while also bringing back some familiar ones, including Galadriel (Clark), who was originally played by Cate Blanchett in Jackson's trilogy.
Jackson's first film in his trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, was released in 2001, with two sequels following in the subsequent years. Although Tolkien's estate was famously not happy with the trilogy, Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movies remain beloved by fans to this day. The films chronicle Frodo's (Elijah Wood) epic journey to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, with the Hobbit aided on his quest by Sam (Sean Astin), Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), and a host of others companions who comprise the iconic Fellowship of the Ring.
In a new interview with Collider ahead of the release of The Rings of Power, Clark and Vickers reveal their favorite moments from Jackson's trilogy. Clark is quick to answer that her favorite moment features Mortensen's Aragorn pushing open the doors of Helm's Deep in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Vickers, on the other hand, chooses a more chilling moment, citing the scene when Frodo and the other Hobbits hide beneath the roots of a large tree as a Nazgūl stands ominously above them. Check out the two actors' answers below:
Jackson's trilogy boasts a number of highly memorable moments, with each The Lord of the Rings fan likely to have their own favorite. Aragorn is a particularly beloved character from the trilogy, with the Ranger going from a lone-wolf outsider in the first movie to rightfully claiming his place on the throne of Gondor by the end of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Ringwraiths also play a memorable part in the trilogy, serving as antagonists throughout all three movies, but proving especially frightening in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring as they relentlessly pursue Frodo and the other Hobbits.
It remains to be seen whether any moments in The Rings of Power will prove to be as memorable as any from The Lord of the Rings, but Amazon has clearly put a lot of resources into ensuring the show is as successful as possible. Initial trailers have been mostly well-received by fans and critical reviews of the first few episodes have been positive, but creating a show as beloved as Jackson's original The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a tall order. Thankfully, fans don't have much longer to wait to judge the new show for themselves with the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power now just around the corner.
