Viewers interested in David Fincher projects will need to turn to Netflix after the filmmaker penned a four-year exclusive deal with the streaming service. Fincher was already an integral part of several prominent Netflix projects, including serving as an executive producer and director for both House of Cards and Mindhunter. His new deal assures more projects will be forthcoming at the streaming service.

Fincher recently told French magazine Premiere that he inked the four-year deal with Netflix. Fincher did say that it was for "another" four years, likely indicating that he was already operating under an exclusive license with the streaming service prior to this revelation. See his full comment to Premiere below:

Yes, I have an exclusivity deal with [Netflix] for another four years. And depending on Mank's reception, I’ll either go see them sheepishly asking them what I can do to redeem myself or take the attitude of the arrogant asshole who’ll require making other films in black and white. [Laughs] No, I’m here to deliver them ‘content’ — whatever it means— likely to bring them spectators, in my small sphere of influence.

News of Fincher's exclusive deal with Netflix arrives along with his first feature film for the service, Mank. The movie will premiere in theaters on Friday and will arrive on Netflix on December 4. The film is expected to compete for Oscars, which is the kind of critical prestige Netflix is looking for by bringing Fincher on board in an exclusive capacity.

Netflix is no stranger to making this exclusive deals with their auteurs, signing television creators Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes to similar, expensive contracts. Sadly, this doesn't mean there will be more Mindhunter in the future. It will still be interesting to see what David Fincher creates next for the streaming service, though.
