The Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released this Tuesday morning, the 24th, the list of films nominated for the 2023 Oscar. Youtube.

The 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12, 2023 and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Films released in theaters between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 were considered.

At this year's awards, the Academy's board of directors left behind streaming flexibility and requires theatrical showing for a film to be eligible for Oscar .

Despite the return of the requirement for big-screen releases, the Academy has stated that films no longer need to specifically release in New York or Los Angeles to qualify. They can also show in Atlanta, the Bay Area, Chicago or Miami and still be eligible.


11 nominations for Everything in Everywhere
Among the highlights, the film 'Everything in Everywhere at the Same Time' leads with 11 nominations. The story, which mixes comedy and drama, is about a Chinese immigrant in parallel universes.

Other leading nominations were "Nothing New at the Front", a film about the first war, and "The Banshees of Inisherin" about a friendship between two Irishmen. Each had nine nominations. "The Fabelmans", one of the favorites for the best picture award,


Brazil out of the Oscar
Brazilian cinema had two chances to be among the nominees for the Oscar. The documentary "Território" and the short film "Sideral" were among the shortlisted, but were not selected. The feature "Mars One", a critical success, was left out of the pre-list for Best International Film.
