A new set video from Mission: Impossible 7 offers a look at one of the many insane stunts Tom Cruise is pulling off in the blockbuster sequel. After being delayed earlier this year by the coronavirus outbreak, production on Mission: Impossible 7 has begun this week, and immediately, the massive scale of the new film is becoming apparent. The action franchise has become well-known for its use of spectacular, usually unprecedented practical stunts (most of which are done by none other than Cruise himself), and Mission: Impossible 7 promises to be no different from its predecessors.
While not much has been made public about Mission: Impossible 7's plot as of now, it is known that writer-director Christopher McQuarrie will be returning to the helm following his work on both 2015's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and that film's 2018 followup, Mission: Impossible - Fallout. In recent months, McQuarrie hasn't shied away from teasing Mission: Impossible 7's massive scale, as he and Cruise have been busy prepping the stunts for both the franchise's seventh installment and the already-confirmed Mission: Impossible 8. First looks at the Mission: Impossible 7 set have only further confirmed the insane heights McQuarrie and Cruise are aiming to achieve this time around.
Thanks to new set videos released online today by NRK and VGTV, fans have gotten their first-ever, real glimpse at one of Mission: Impossible 7's show-stopping action sequences. Shared on Twitter by ZachMacieI, the new footage shows Cruise driving a motorcycle off a mountaintop ramp before parachuting to the ground below. In true Mission: Impossible fashion, he is followed the whole time by a helicopter with a camera mounted to the front of it. Check out the video below:

It is, of course, impossible to know as of now what the context is surrounding this stunt, or what in the Mission: Impossible 7 plot leads Cruise's Ethan Hunt to drive his motorcycle off a cliffside ramp. However, the stunt itself seems to fit in perfectly well with previous Mission: Impossible set pieces in that it is both incredible to look at and totally insane from a logistics perspective. But Cruise has earned a reputation for attempting stunts that most movie stars wouldn't even consider, and this new move only sees him further living up to that standard. There's also no doubt this is just one of many thrilling Mission: Impossible 7 sequences that McQuarrie, Cruise, and co. will be filming over the next few months.
As is the case with every Mission: Impossible film, Cruise won't be the only one participating in the new movie's stunning sequences. Returning Mission: Impossible star Rebecca Ferguson previously teased the weapons training she's been involved in for the new film, while franchise newbie Hayley Atwell has similarly teased her own Mission: Impossible training regiment over the past few months. In fact, both Ferguson and Atwell have been just as eager as McQuarrie and Cruise to talk up the many surprises Mission: Impossible 7 has in store for fans. Fortunately, based solely on what Cruise is doing in this latest footage, it doesn't look like Mission: Impossible 7 will have much trouble living up to the hype.
