Upcoming film The Matrix 4 just added a new edition to their already stacked cast: Ellen Hoffman. Her role in the film is a mystery, as no details about who she is playing have been released.

The first Matrix film was released in 1999 to critical and financial acclaim. It follows Keanu Reeves as Neo, a man who discovers that the world as he knows it isn't real, and that he and most of the human population are living in a computer simulation called the Matrix. He learns that he is "The One", prophesied to be the person who frees humanity from the control of the machines they created. The movie is now considered a classic, as it redefined the sci-fi and action genre for every with its unique story, stylized fight scenes and use of "bullet time". The film spawned two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions and is now a $1 billion franchise.

The news of a new Matrix sequel has come with a flurry of casting announcements. According to The Wrap, Ellen Hollman has been cast in an unknown role in The Matrix 4. Hollman is known for her time as Saxa on the Starz historical drama Spartacus. She joins several other actors who are new to the franchise, including Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Iron Fist's Jessica Henwick and Aquaman's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.


In addition to her work on Spartacus, Ellen Hollman also played Zypher on AMC's cult hit Into the Bandlands. She has a variety of other credits, including several roles as recurring characters on NCIS: New Orleans and 9-1-1. Hollman is a trained Jiu-Jitsu martial artist, which makes her a great fit in a franchise that focuses heavily on fight choreography.

Details about the Matrix sequel have been scarce. The film is still untitled, and despite the addition of several new actors, no new characters have been revealed. The plot has also been kept under wraps, with fans speculating if the film takes place before or after the original trilogy. There are a couple thing that are confirmed for The Matrix 4. Franchise stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss and Jada Pinkett-Smith are returning. Lana Wachowski, one of the directors of the original trilogy, will also return to helm the film. Unfortunately, Hugo Weaving, who played antagonist Agent Smith in the original trilogy, will not be returning. Despite the lack of public information about The Matrix 4, fans can at least look forward to an interesting and dynamic cast.
