The first poster for The Continental has been released, teasing Peacock's bloody upcoming John Wick prequel show. The first John Wick became a surprise hit in 2014, and the franchise now includes 3 acclaimed and successful sequels, with two spinoffs also on the way. One of these spinoffs is The Continental, a show created by Greg Coolidge, Shawn Simmons, and Kirk Ward, that will serve as a prequel for Ian McShane's Winston character, to be played by Colin Woodell.

The Continental's trailer hasn't yet been released, but a new poster provides a bloody first look at the highly-anticipated Peacock John Wick spinoff.

While many story details for the show main under wraps, it has been confirmed that in addition to chronicling Winston's origins, the John Wick spinoff will reveal The Continental's origins as well. The show will provide a peek behind the curtain at how the hotels operate and will also show the creation of the franchise's recognizable gold coins that assassins use as currency. In terms of the show's exact time period, it has been confirmed that The Continental will take place in the 1970s, a stark departure from the modern era featured in the John Wick movies.

Reeves will not be returning due to the show's time 1970s period, but The Continental will feature Mel Gibson as a new character named Cormac. It's not yet clear, however, what the dynamic between Woodell's Winston and Cormac will be. The show also stars Peter Greene as Young Uncle Charlie, Nhung Kate as Yen, Jessica Allain as Lou, Jeremy Bobb as Mayhew, Adam Shapiro as Lemmy, Sally Garnett as The Concierge, and Katie McGrath as The Adjudicator.

An Adjudicator last appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and boasted considerable power over the Continental hotels, potentially signaling how McGrath's character will factor into the show. Beyond casting and setting details, many questions remain regarding The Continental. What is clear, however, is that with the recent smash success of John Wick: Chapter 4, the appetite for more assassin action is higher than ever.
