Harrison Ford and Ed Helms have been cast in the new lengthily-titled seafaring comedy The Miserable Adventures of Burt Squire Aboard the Horn High Yo. Based on a true story, Ed Helms will play a disillusioned family man who tries to cope with his midlife crisis by embarking on a sailing vacation. The trip takes a turn for the worse when he's shipwrecked with a manic sea captain, played by Harrison Ford.
Deadline reports that Ben Bolea wrote the screenplay and STX Entertainment, which recently released The Gentlemen, 21 Bridges, and the Jennifer Lopez-led Hustlers, will oversee distribution. STX seems to be uncovering a niche for turning obscure yet interesting, fact-based stories into major successes: Hustlers, based on a New York magazine article about a group of strippers who steal from their Wall Street clients, became a surprise critical and commercial success with plenty of awards buzz and over $150 million at the box office. Burt Squire looks poised to continue that unique hot streak for the studio.

Ford is also slated to reprise his iconic archaeologist in the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie and was most recently seen in The Call of the Wild, an adaptation of Jack London's novel released in February right before COVID-19 shuttered theaters. As for Helms, it's been more than two years since his last major studio release Tag, which starred an ensemble cast including Jeremy Renner and Jake Johnson and grossed $78 million at the box office. The unlikely pairing of an unhinged, gruff Harrison Ford and typical everyman Ed Helms certainly makes Burt Squire one of the more interesting comedies currently in development.
