Attendees at Star Wars Celebration 2023 were thrilled to see first footage from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which promises to continue expanding the Mandoverse. The Star Wars franchise has always been known for hopping around the timeline, and the Disney era is no different. The last few years have seen a whole new time period open up, in the first few years after George Lucas' original trilogy. Lucasfilm began exploring this era in The Mandalorian, with a spinoff The Book of Boba Fett. That proved to be something of a false part for an initiative sometimes being referred to as the Mandoverse, but at Star Wars Celebration 2023, Lucasfilm revealed more about their plans.

Created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will star Jude Law; the upcoming Disney+ TV show will apparently tell the story of a group of children lost in space. Attendees at Star Wars Celebration 2023 were given a first look at the show, and Screen Rant was in attendance. Here's a full description of the footage:

The Skeleton Crew trailer opens on a planet that is deliberately designed to look like Earth. A group of children is shown being taught by a droid teacher. After school, it appears that they've snuck out and they can be seen on a spaceship flying across a moon. The children's parents are then shown meeting knowing that their offspring are missing. Another shot shows a holo message being received, telling the kids not to give up. The Skeleton Crew footage also included a lot of new aliens and a very sinister new droid. It all builds up to the introduction of Jude Law's character, with the kids saying, "You're a Jedi," as he pulls down his hood.
