The new Prey movie poster reveals a detailed look at the latest Predator's weapons. The upcoming horror-thriller is a prequel to the long-running franchise that began in 1987 with the monster hit, Predator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura. The film proved immensely popular with audiences, especially on home video, which helped propel Predator into a cult classic. The film spawned five sequels and two Alien crossover films over the span of 35 years. With the upcoming film to release soon on Hulu, Prey is set to venture back before the events of the original film to tell the story of an earlier encounter of a Predator on Earth.

Set in 1719, Prey will focus on Naru (Amber Midthunder), a young Comanche hunter who takes it upon herself to protect her people when faced with the alien threat. Armed with a bow and arrows as well as makeshift weapons, Naru must track down and kill the Predator before it kills her. Although sporting far more advanced weaponry than the Comanche, director Dan Trachtenberg has previously stated that the alien's arsenal has changed. The Predator will no longer feature the iconic plasmacaster weapon as the director felt that it would have made the alien too powerful. However, Trachtenberg explained that the creature will have new never-before-seen gadgets to hunt his prey.

A new poster for the upcoming Predator prequel film, Prey, reveals a detailed look at the alien hunter's weapons. The poster showcases the Predator standing over a cliff, looking toward the horizon as he readies himself for his ritualistic hunt. Check out the new poster below.

The poster features the Predator standing at the ready with the alien's iconic dual arm blades extended. Over the creature's left shoulder is the handle of what could be a sword. Strapped to the Predator's lower back looks like a dagger, similar to the one first seen in Alien vs Predator. However, the Predator also sports a weapon over its right shoulder where the plasmacaster would normally rest. Since the director previously stated that the alien would not have the famed weapon in Prey, what gadget will take its place remains to be seen.

Although the Predator is a versatile hunter known for its brutal kills, it has consistently relied on it various tools to assist it in killing its various prey, be it human, Xenomorph, or another Predator. With Trachtenberg previously revealing that this version of the Predator will have less armor and will have slightly more primitive equipment, the alien may need to rely more on its instincts instead of its weaponry. Barring any new details from the filmmakers, audiences will have to wait until August 5 for Prey to land on Hulu to see the new Predator in action.
