Halloween and Superman don't generally have much crossover, but it turns out Haddonfield and Smallville have shared lots of recognizable residents. Haddonfield is a small town in Illinois, while Smallville is a small town in Kansas. Haddonfield is the birthplace of one Michael Myers, a child psychopath who only becomes something worse as he grows to adulthood. As Dr. Loomis puts it, he's purely and simply evil. Meanwhile, Smallville is where Clark Kent arrives on Earth, eventually blossoming into a true force for good, Superman.

While both characters are from small towns, Michael Myers and Superman really don't have much else in common, outside of being incredibly hard to damage. One assumes though that if one ever crossed into the other's world, Clark would win that battle handily, relentlessly destroying Michael until he finally couldn't get back up, at least until next Halloween. When compared to villains like General Zod or Darkseid, Mr. Myers would be a relative day off for Superman, even if it took dozens of shots to put Michael down.

In Hollywood, however, there's actually been quite a few connections made between the Halloween franchise and Smallville, at least as far as actors and directors being shared between the two properties, sometimes to an eyebrow-raising degree. Apparently Haddonfield and Smallville aren't as far away from each other as we thought.

Halloween Has Multiple Strange Smallville Connections

The Halloween and Smallville personnel connections begin with the directors of three Halloween sequels. Rick Rosenthal, who helmed 1981's Halloween 2 and 2002's Halloween: Resurrection, would direct seven episodes of Smallville, with his last coming during season 8. Steve Miner, director of 1998's Halloween H20, also directed a Smallville episode, season 2's "Duplicity." Miner also holds the distinction of being the only person to direct two Friday the 13th movies. Switching over to those in front of the camera, Margot Kidder, the Lois Lane to Christopher Reeve's Superman, appeared as Laurie Strode's psychiatrist in Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, and as Dr. Bridgette Crosby in Smallville season 4.

Where things really get surprising with the number of cast and crew connections is with Halloween: Resurrection. In addition to Resurrection director Rossenthal working on Smallville, multiple actors from that sequel also appeared on The CW series. Ryan Merriman, one of Resurrection's main survivors, played Jason Dante on the Smallville season 3 episode "Velocity." Additionally, actors David Lewis, Lorena Gale, Haig Sutherland, and Dan Joffre also all appeared in both episodes of Smallville and in small roles in Halloween: Resurrection. Most interestingly, Brad Loree, who played Michael Myers himself in Resurrection, turned up in two different bit roles on Smallville. The common thread between the two projects is that they were both shot in Canada, but still, it's not like they had to use the same people. Canada has a large talent pool.
