A brand new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer is released confirming the return of a key character from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Tickets are now on sale for the much-anticipated James Gunn-directed blockbuster which will wrap up his Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy. In light of its nearing premiere, Marvel Studios has ramped up its marketing efforts for its next blockbuster.

The new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer features the first look at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 character, Ayesha. Watch the video below:

Played by Elizabeth Debicki, the Golden High Priestess of the Sovereign hired the Guardians of the Galaxy to protect Anulax Batteries from the Abilisk. However, after Rocket Raccoon stole some of them, she and the Sovereign went after the heroes.

How Ayesha Fits In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s Story

Aside from her role in the film's actual narrative, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credits scene also revealed that she had created Adam Warlock as Sovereign's greatest weapon. It's her attempt at seeking revenge against the Guardians of the Galaxy after the team continues to evade being accountable for what Rocket did. The aforementioned trailer re-confirms the idea that she will stick with this endeavor in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

This time, however, Ayesha and the Sovereign aren't the only ones going after Guardians of the Galaxy. The new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer suggests that she would be working alongside the High Evolutionary. How they end up collaborating is anyone's guess at this point. But, it certainly makes the rag-tag team of cosmic heroes' work trickier since they will have to deal with two worthy adversaries.

Gunn's story for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has long been decided. Despite being fired and eventually re-hired, the big story beats of the film were maintained. This means that the threequel will likely revisit some of the lingering plot lines from previous films to finally resolve. That includes Ayesha's unfinished business in the MCU
