The Marvel Cinematic Universe will bring vampires to the forefront with Blade, and they will be among the most powerful villains the franchise has ever seen based on a previous tease. There has been a noticeable rise in teases about vampires in the MCU in the years since it was announced Mahershala Ali would star as Eric Brooks in a solo film. This included meeting a vampire in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law and hearing Blade's voice in Eternals' post-credits scene. Despite the various teases of the bloodthirsty creatures, it appears that Marvel is waiting until Blade releases to completely unveil them.
It would not be a proper Blade movie without a ton of vampires, as Mahershala Ali's vampire hunter character should encounter a great number of them. It is even expected that a major Marvel vampire, like Dracula, will be Blade's villain. Once the MCU begins to use them as a means to expand the supernatural side of the franchise, audiences will get to see them in action. Vampires are inherently powerful thanks to super strength, healing factors, and more abilities. But, the MCU has already put Blade's vampire villains in a significant power-level category.
Vampires Are As Dangerous As Thanos, Loki, & Other Villains
The MCU established in Loki season 1 that vampires are villains as powerful and dangerous as Thanos, Loki, and others. The reveal came during Loki episode 4 when Hunter B-15 mentioned vampires in the same breath as Kree, Titans, and demigods that cause the Time Variance Authority the most trouble. The line connected to established MCU villains like Ronan the Accuser or Yon-Rogg (who are both Kree), Thanos (a Titan), and Loki (a demigod). Mentioning vampires in the same sentence as these characters proves just how dangerous they will be in Blade.
Despite the redemption that Loki received over the years, he is still one of the MCU's longest-lasting threats. Loki further proved just how big a threat his variants could be to the multiverse too. Thanos' status as the biggest MCU villain to date is undeniable, as he succeeded in collecting the Infinity Stones and wiping out half of all life in the universe. If the TVA views vampires as dangerous as Loki or Thanos, that is a huge sign of how powerful Blade's vampires will be. It indicates that they could create much bigger problems than Blade can handle on his own.
The MCU’s Vampire Tease Hints At Blade’s Importance In The Multiverse Saga
Marvel teasing vampires as villains that pose a danger to the entire multiverse makes Blade's introduction much more important. Instead of just being a character who deals with a small part of the supernatural corner of the MCU, Eric Brooks becomes someone who is battling some of the most powerful villains in the entire multiverse potentially. It means that Blade could have a multiverse-level threat without actually dealing with a multiverse story. This would help to quickly establish Mahershala Ali's Blade as one of the most formidable MCU heroes.
Vampires might not play a major role in the Multiverse Saga outside of Blade, but setting up Eric Brooks in this fashion is a chance to tease why he is needed in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars. His experience fighting vampires over the course of many decades makes him well-suited to join the Avengers to fight the Council of Kangs. He will be no stranger to fighting major threats to the multiverse after encountering Blade's vampire villains and could help the Avengers turn the tide against an even bigger threat.
