According to Ryan Reynolds, his upcoming action-comedy Free Guy is his favorite movie he's ever done, as opposed to Deadpool. An original film directed by Shawn Levy, Free Guy focuses on a normal bank teller (Reynolds) who discovers he's an NPC (non-player character) in a violent video game. In addition to Reynolds, the film stars Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Lil Rel Howery, and Reynolds' former Green Lantern co-star Taika Waititi. Free Guy was initially slated for a June release, but the coronavirus pandemic pushed the film to December, making it one of many films to flee their original dates to avoid the outbreak.

Reynolds was a well-known actor even before taking on the role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool, but it was the 2016 film that really elevated his star status. After a disappointing appearance in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds got the chance to properly adapt the Marvel Comics character for his own solo film at Fox. Deadpool scored positive reviews and over $785 million worldwide, making the R-rated, fourth wall-breaking film a massive success. A sequel followed in 2018, and though Fox has since been bought by the family-friendly Disney, Deadpool 3 is currently in development at Marvel Studios.

Before suiting up as the Merc with a Mouth again, however, Reynolds is looking ahead to Free Guy. He took to Twitter to display Free Guy's cover for Total Film magazine, which also features a new look at Comer's Molotov Girl. In his tweet, Reynolds also revealed Free Guy is "my all time favorite film I've ever done." See his tweet and the cover in the space below:

Like most of Reynolds' recent major projects, Free Guy has already established a clever and funny marketing campaign, such as the video released last December hyping up the release of the first trailer. Since Free Guy is no longer arriving in a little over a month, it's likely that much of the film's promotional materials (like a newer trailer) has been pushed back. However, it's fun to get a new glimpse at the film through these magazine covers.

Reynolds has always been open about his passion for the Deadpool films, so to have him say Free Guy is actually his favorite project speaks volumes. This sounds like a ringing endorsement for a film that already promises some genuine laughs and star power. Of course, the real quality of the film won't be revealed until it arrives in theaters this December. Until then, Reynolds' enthusiasm will surely help build up anticipation.
