Dwayne Johnson teases how Black Adam will impact the future of the DCEU moving forward. Set for release on October 21, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular character. The movie is also set to introduce the Justice Society of America, including members Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo).

Since Black Adam was announced, Johnson has been teasing how the film will shift the balance of power in the DCEU. Each Black Adam trailer has showcased the eponymous character's power by depicting him catching rockets, punching fighter jets out of the sky, and going toe to toe with a number of different superheroes. Johnson recently made an electrifying entrance at San Diego Comic-Con to hype up Black Adam and its place within the DCEU. Johnson and the rest of his creative team have already begun teasing Black Adam's future in the cinematic superhero universe.

Speaking to ***** during the WB press line at SDCC, Johnson teased how Black Adam will impact the future of the DCEU. While the actor has hinted at how his character will change the franchise's hierarchy, he also touched upon how he will affect its tone and story. Johnson said:

"That footage is a reflection of our tone. That footage is also a reflection of our director's vision, who wanted to create something that was different; who wanted to create a movie that was disruptive. But also he wanted to create a movie that would start the pendulum swing in the DC universe. In addition to the hierarchy of power that I've been talking about, this pendulum swing [will] usher in a new era of the DC Universe. A new antihero era; a new era of tone, and a new era of story. And also, it's this incredible opportunity that we have at Seven Bucks Productions for Black Adam's storytelling to build out the DC Universe with disruption and with respect. Listening to the fans, because they'll always guide you."

Black Adam being a major shift in the DCEU is interesting as The Flash, set for release in 2023, is also being marketed as a major turning point. That multiverse-exploring film is rumored to be a soft reboot of the franchise, so one has to wonder how much of an impact Black Adam will actually have before the DCEU is reset. Aside from that, rumors have circulated that various members of the Justice Society will get spin-off films following Black Adam. Those like Hodge and Centineo have signaled their willingness to return. As for Johnson himself, it isn't yet clear what the future holds for him beyond Black Adam, but it seems highly likely he will be back.

It sounds like Johnson and his team at Seven Buck Productions are privy to what lies ahead for the DCEU, and that Black Adam is a key part of that new plan. Johnson's comments about the fans might also be an indicator of what is coming next for the character. Many have wanted to see Black Adam face off against Shazam since the two are arch rivals in the comics. The other big crossover Johnson has been hyping up for years is a fight with the most powerful superhero in the DCEU, Superman. Johnson might believe the franchise needs to get Henry Cavill back as Superman in the DCEU to make that happen. Speculation will continue to run rampant, but the best indicator of what is coming next for Black Adam lies within the movie itself.
